Griftland College was founded 1977 due to a fusion between two other secondary schools in Soest, Christian College Griftland and the Christian Mavo school. The Christian Mavo started in 1921 as a [[Meer Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs|mulo]], and Christian College Griftland started in 1975. After 1975, a building was constructed that both schools started using on the 7th of November, 1977. |

Due to the increased number of students, the former Christian Domestic Science School was located on the site of the current Verzetsplein. In 1996, all pupils were accommodated in a new main building featuring, among other things, a study centre with a media library. Classrooms were also added in 2000 and 2003, including a gymnasium and ample public space. During the expansion in 2011, a fourth gymnasium was added alongside three extra classrooms. |

In 1239, a canal or grift formed along the Noorderweg, establishing a direct connection with the Eem. After the construction of the 'Zoesdijc', the [[Praamgracht]] was dug, parallel to the [[Oudegracht|Oude Gracht]]. The lands along this newly dug waterway were named the Griftlanden. In the 1970s, the Griftland College was built here. |
