== Which article are you evaluating? ==
[[Farmworkers in the United States]]
== Why you have chosen this article to evaluate? ==
The reason I chose this article was because not only does it connects to the themes of the course but because it also connects to my own experiences growing up. I at one point was a farmworker since I began picking blueberries at around the age of eight and later worked in the fields picking strawberries. My parents, neighbors, and relatives also worked in agriculture, so this is something I have seen firsthand.
Farmworkers in the United States often do not receive the recognition they deserve, even though their labor is essential to the nation as they bring food to our plates. Due to this, I wanted to look at an article that focuses on this topic. I was also interested in learning more from an educational perspective, rather than from my personal experience.
My preliminary impression of the article was that that it was informative and covered range of topics such like wages, demographics, and working conditions.
== Evaluate the article ==
The article's content is relevant and covers a wide range of important topics such as farm structure, demographics, wages, working conditions, organizing, and environmental justice. The organization of the article is strong with sections that are labeled and easy to follow. This makes the article accessible to readers who want to focus on a particular section.
In terms of content, the article does a good job in covering a wide range of topics. It includes relevant and updated information such as recent wage data. Useful and reliable statistics from government agencies like the U.S. Department of Labor and the USDA were included which help in forming the reality of farmworkers. Though, at the same time, the article introduces many topics but does not always go into depth.
The tone of the article is neutral and does not seem biased toward any particular position. It present information from a factual perspective. However, there are areas where the article could be improved. For instance, it mentions the Cedar Point Nursery v. Hassid but it does not fully explain the case which would be useful to help understand the impact it created. I also noticed that there no mentioning of children working in agriculture, even though I believe its a reality for some families in the United States.
Overall, the article is well-organized, informative, and supported by reliable sources. It provides a general overview of farmworkers in the United States but it could be improved by going more in depth in certain areas and including topics that are not mentioned. This article is well written but has room for more writing to expand more on the topic of farmworker.
