Created and voiced by Alexander Mateos as a personal internet fursona, he initially appeared in the 2028 Van Man novels, depicted as a 19-year-old Sendan suffering from schizoaffective and bipolar disorder who attends the fictional Jiale University in Luvacro, Ariastärs as an international student from Santiago, Nuelto on Planet Wolex. Regarded by critics as one of the most influential modern depictions of the schizophrenic spectrum, his developing conditions and schizophrenic episodes serve as drivers to his personal experiences with the world of Wolex, often critiquing and questioning the standards and norms of society, while following delusions of numerical structures present in vans that seemingly follow him.

Ander is depicted as a 1.85 meter (6 ft 1 in) tall gray-skinned Sendan, with black hair, brown eyes, and a dark unibrow, with a small white scar cutting across his right brow. He has a wide circular head, with a short muzzle, thin ears and a small, 3-pin webbing defect running from his nose to between his ears. He has a very slender build, with a thin tail that ends in a small tuft of light gray hair, dyed blue at the tip. He most often dons a thin, black long-sleeve shirt under a light-blue, cropped hoodie, with black, distressed skinny jeans and black-white Converse shoes.

According to official canon, Ander was born at 6:38 AM on 19 Roviembre, 2002, at San Coyoacán University General Hospital (Spanish: Hospital General del Universidad de San Coyoacán) in Santiago, Puntacón State, Nuelto. His Nueltan father, Carlos Luna Cuerovan-Narvaéz, works as an electrician, and his Yjreik mother, Jveirnik Veafnir Kjalzi, works as a building inspector. He is the eldest of 3 boys, with his brothers Rubión and Osvaldo born the next year. He first attended Luis Manuel Preschool and Primary for K-4 before his parents transferred him to the Lomá Nuevo General School a year later, where he remained until graduation in 2013. He attended Eduardo Velasqúez Secondary, where he performed well and graduated magna cum laude in 2015. After a gap year, Ander began attending Jiale University in Luvacro, Ariastärs as an international student, majoring in architecture and living with roommate and longtime friend Zalfère Leuchot. Ander was first diagnosed with schizophrenia in early 2014; 7 months later, this was updated to schizoaffective disorder with bipolar disorder, followed by an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) diagnosis in mid 2015.

Ander was originally made as the personal fursona of Mateos, who also provides the voice and acting of Ander in Van Man (Video-game) and Van Man Chronics (Film). The character's role in the Van Man Saga came from the story's original inspiration, that of a Garry's Mod machinima, in which Mateos had used the character when playing his role. He was further developed alongside the machinima's original story, being further created as a direct representation of Mateos's own personality, identity, and life.
