If the Confederacy had existed long enough to develop unique political parties or identities I would support a change. If the Democratic Party renounced and condemned them, I would also support a change. But I think the fact that they were Democrats before and after the war reflects and underlines what Southern politics looked like throughout the 19th century (and more than half of the 20th century).
