Social media burnout is when using social media starts to feel draining instead of enjoyable. It usually happens after spending a lot of time online and constantly keeping up with posts, messages, expectations, and other content. People experiencing burnout might feel tired, irritated, less motivated, or uninterested in engaging with social media anymore. This happens and can come from things such as comparing yourself to others, feeling pressure to stay active or in the know, tracking likes and performance levels, or just being overstimulated by nonstop content. Overtime, it can affect ones self esteem and even contribute to anxiety, depression, or mood changes, especially when it feels hard to disconnect. |
