On June 10th 2016, Steven “Grindstein” Neistein a fantasy sports contest champion, had won the opportunity to throw out the first pitch for a Tampa Bay Rays game. During the preliminary events of this Occassion, executives from the organization collaborated with Neistein on concepts to be able to compete as a “small market” team amongst the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. “The opener” concept was a discussion topic. The Tampa Bay Rays shortly after this were the first team to use the modern day concept of having an opener starter. Other advanced concepts such as dome fair flow and temperature changing during the game to benefit the home team were also collaborated on. Neistein has since been a consultant for several other organizations. Currently, Neistein is developing solutions to avoid a lockout for the 2027 MLB season. Speculative solutions, include the idea that the highest payroll organization, would not be eligible for all the playoff wild card spots. The “5-6” concept would eliminate, approximately with luxury tax considerations, the top 8 teams in payroll for being able to compete for the last 2 wild card spots in the American and National League. Neistein has also developed other strategies to help facilitate Major League Baseball post 2027 lockout. Neistein has hinted, that lower payroll organizations, are colluding to ensure a lockout.
