Netflix to Stream The CW’s Crime Comedy Series ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’

The show is still awaiting a season 2 renewal after premiering earlier this year.

Netflix to Stream The CW’s Crime Comedy Series ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’
Picture: The CW It’s been many years since The CW stopped its output from flowing to Netflix, and while there are a couple of asterisks, for the most part, the network’s scripted library has stayed with the network or gone everywhere else. We’ve now got word, though, that the network’s latest lighthearted procedural, Good Cop/Bad Cop, is officially heading to Netflix in the United States. For years, The CW and Netflix shared a very lucrative output deal that saw every show from the network, from Riverdale to The Flash, arrive on the streamer shortly after each season finale. While that agreement wrapped up in 2019, the network has been sold, and its scripted output has changed dramatically; there have been a few occasions when Netflix has gotten newer CW titles, albeit they require asterisks. As it stands, All American is the last remaining title to come to Netflix through that old output deal, with most of its titles bleeding off Netflix over the next few years.  In 2024, Netflix picked up Inside the NFL on a weekly basis towards the end of the same (although they haven’t done the same for 2025) and earlier this year we saw Sullivan’s Crossing, which The CW carries in the US (although it airs first on CTV in Canada first) added in the US and in other regions around the globe. Next up is Good Cop/Bad Cop. We’ve learned that season 1 of Good Cop/Bad Cop will land on Netflix US on Tuesday, January 6th. What is Good Cop/Bad Cop? Premiering in February 2025, Good Cop/Bad Cop is an eight-episode procedural that leans firmly into the comedy side of the dramedy spectrum. Set in the small and quirky Pacific Northwest town of Eden Vale, the series follows siblings Lou and Henry Hickman, a detective duo who could not be more different. Lou is polished and by the book, while Henry is chaotic, impulsive, and somehow still good at his job. Forced to work together on local cases, their biggest obstacle is often their boss, the gruff and no-nonsense Police Chief Big Hank, who also happens to be their father. It’s a family affair where workplace tensions blur seamlessly into sibling rivalry. The series is led by a trio of familiar TV faces: Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl, Single Parents, Netflix’s The Weekend Away) stars as Lou Hickman, marking a return to the procedural space. Luke Cook (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Dynasty) plays her unpredictable brother, Henry. Clancy Brown (Dexter: New Blood, The Penguin) rounds out the family as Big Hank, the intimidating police chief. Good Cop/Bad Cop is a co-production between The CW, Roku, and Australian streamer Stan, which makes its distribution setup a little different from most CW titles. Amazon Prime Video also acquired the show’s streaming license over the Summer.  As it stands, the show has yet be officially renewed or canceled for a second season, so some may be hoping that if the show blows up on Netflix, it could get a big boost, which would encourage The CW or even Netflix to take over the reins.  Good Cop/Bad Cop arrives on Netflix US on January 6th.
