Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university established under an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, or declared as a deemed university under the UGC Act, 1956.

Candidates appearing in the final year of their degree examination may also apply, but they must produce proof of passing the examination within the prescribed time. 

Age Limit

Minimum Age: 20 Years
Maximum Age: 25 Years

The candidate must have been born between 2 August 2001 and 1 August 2006.

Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules:

SC / ST: 5 Years
OBC: 3 Years
Ex-Servicemen / Government Servants: As per norms

Selection Process

The selection process for the UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant Recruitment 2026 consists of multiple stages designed to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge, physical fitness and leadership ability.

1. Written Examination

The written exam will be conducted on 19 July 2026 and includes two papers:

Paper I – General Ability and Intelligence

2. Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

3. Interview / Personality Test

Candidates who pass the physical tests will appear for a personality test conducted by UPSC, carrying 150 marks.

4. Medical Examination

Finally, selected candidates must pass the medical examination before final appointment. 

Physical Standards (Basic Requirements)

For Male Candidates
Height: 165 cm
Chest: 81 cm (with expansion of 5 cm)

For Female Candidates
Height: 157 cm

Physical efficiency tests include events like 100 meters race, 800 meters run, long jump and shot put, depending on gender categories. 

Salary and Benefits

Candidates selected as Assistant Commandants will receive a Level-10 pay scale under the 7th Pay Commission.
