Several special events occurred around and in the Effingham County Museum during the year. An Artisans' Fair was held on the grounds in the month of May. Over 30 vendors came and attracted hundreds of visitors. Guests shopped, sampled wine and spend time together in the community of a warm and sunny spring day. Many came inside the Museum and explored the new exhibits for the first time.{{Cite news |title=Artisan Fair 2014 |work=Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum Newsletter, Volume 1 Issue 1 |pages=1}} |

The Museum played a part in Effingham's Home Town Christmas celebration in late November 2014. Hundreds of people came to see Santa Claus as he rode up next to the Museum on the historic fire truck that had fought the St. Anthony Hospital Fire in April of 1949. Many also came inside to the see the Museum decorated for the Christmas season. {{Cite news |date=January-February-March 2015 |title=Effingham Central Business Association's Old Fashioned Christmas |work=Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum Newsletter, Volume 2 Issue 1 |pages=1}} |
