Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for RBI Assistant 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification

  • A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution with a minimum specified percentage of marks (General/OBC minimum 50% or pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). Basic knowledge of computer operations and word processing is essential.

Age Limit (As on 01/02/2026)

  • Minimum Age: 20 years

  • Maximum Age: 28 years

  • Age relaxations are applicable as per government norms for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-servicemen, and other eligible categories.

Language Requirements

  • Proficiency in the official language or mother tongue of the state/office for which the candidate is applying is mandatory. Candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the language of the respective region.

Selection Process

The selection for the posts of RBI Assistant consists of three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Prelims) – Objective online test to screen eligible candidates for the next stage.

  2. Main Examination (Mains) – A more comprehensive online test covering core subjects.

  3. Language Proficiency Test (LPT) – A qualifying test to verify proficiency in the local/official language of the state where the candidate will be posted. Only those who pass the LPT are considered for final selection.

The scores of the Main exam are primarily used for final merit ranking, provided the candidate qualifies in the Language Proficiency Test.

Salary and Benefits

Selected candidates for the post of Assistant will receive a competitive salary structure under the RBI pay scale. The salary includes:

  • Basic Pay: ₹29,000 per month

  • Gross Monthly Emoluments: Approximately ₹58,514 (excluding House Rent Allowance, Dearness Allowance, and other allowances)

  • In-hand salary after deductions is estimated to range between ₹50,000 to ₹54,000 depending on place of posting and allowances.

  • In addition to salary, candidates are eligible for benefits such as medical coverage, pension, travel allowance, housing allowance (HRA), and other perks applicable to central government employees.

The application fee is to be paid online at the time of form submission and is non-refundable:

  • General / OBC / EWS: ₹450 + applicable GST

  • SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-servicemen: ₹50 + applicable GST

  • RBI Staff: No fee (if eligible)
