Development: I definitely prefer the pre-1984 Norman Lear over the 2010s Norman Lear. The 2010s was a time when Lear was really pompous. I also didn't like that he showed hypocrisy in his criticism of Charles Coughlin by praising Coughlin's ally Charles Lindbergh in the preface of his memoir Even This I Get to Experience
