I do not have sources to hand, nor do I understand how to properly cite them on Wikipedia. However, I do know that this book is criticized today on a couple of counts. Foremost is its handling of sexual orientation (the murderess is a lesbian) as a signifier of a warped personality. Hallelujiah Dawson has also been criticized as a racist caricature.

:: Anyone criticising it on those grounds seems to be saying that lesbians cannot be murderers: a rather hysterical positions, but unfortunately not really surprising in this day and age.

Since this page is tagged as LGBT-relevant, some discussion of that element of the plot and theme would be useful in improving the article. It could be handled neutrally enough through pointing out that Ms. Sayers was writing at a particular time where issues of race and sexuality were not as well understood.
