I’d like to propose merging this article into [[History of religion in the United States#Before the American Revolution]]. |

There seems to be significant overlap as far as the topics are concerned and that section of the earlier article covers the topics in substantial depth. For example, both articles discuss regional religious differences (New England, Middle, and Southern colonies), the role of established churches, and the presence of dissenting groups such as Quakers and Baptists, all within the same pre-Revolutionary time frame. At present, this results in parallel coverage rather than a clear summary-and-detail relationship.
