::::All collegiate chapters report to and are overseen by their respective alumni chapter in the area. For instance, all Washington, DC, collegiate chapters report to the Washington (DC) Alumni Chapter. Even when a collegiate chapter has no current membership, the alumni chapter coordinates with the school and other collegiate chapters in the area to generate student interest and, hopefully, eventually restore the chapter to good standing so it can become self-sufficient again.

::::This is why I believe periods of inactivity don’t fully apply in the case of the fraternity. Alumni chapters are always working in the background to maintain and support collegiate chapters. There are likely many documented and undocumented instances where chapters had no active membership, which would be difficult to track comprehensively. For that reason, it’s probably best to keep the charter year as the focal point to avoid confusion. [[User:Pop4any1|Pop4any1]] ([[User talk:Pop4any1|talk]]) 20:14, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

:::::I found a copy of "The Story of Kappa Alpha Psi" given out in 1983 at https://brittlebooks.library.illinois.edu/brittlebooks_closed/Books2009-04/crumwi0001stokap/crumwi0001stokap.pdf . That would take care of the closed dates for some of the earlier chapters formed at schools that have gone under.
