Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix ended on a big cliffhanger and will be resolved in 2024 with the confirmation that season 2 of the Adi Shankar animated show is on its way.
Debuting on Netflix in October 2023, Captain Laserhawk comes from Adi Shankar, the creator who has worked on a slew of big shows, including Netflix’s Castlevania series. The 6-episode series delves into the lore of various Ubisoft IPs and brings us a steampunk sci-fi story unlike anything else.
The confirmation of a second season comes at the end of a recently released anime 2024 preview released by Netflix on their YouTube channel dedicated to all things anime.
For the most part, the teaser sticks to already announced titles that will be coming throughout the year but notably misses a large number of anime titles that are expected to be released this year but probably aren’t fully finalized. However, at the end of the teaser, we’re given a brief clip of Captain Laserhawk and Marcus, who asks, “Do you wanna be entertained? Don’t change the channel.”
No release date was given for the return of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix beyond a broad 2024 window.
What to Expect from Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Season 2
As a quick recap (spoiler alert), the series ends with things looking bad for our hero. After a big brawl with Sarah, Dolph looks like he may not be returning after he activates a bomb that sees the metal plate on his head blasted off. Sarah survived the confrontation and has now transformed into a four-legged cyborg, asking Marcus, “Are you in or are you out?” as she unveils her plans to recruit him into a new world order.
The mid-credits cutscene sees a retro reboot screen that shows our hero conversing with Sam Fisher, who tells him, “This is where we fight back.” We’re then presented with a “Continue” screen in true video-game fashion, to which “Yes” is selected.

We spoke to Adi Shankar around the time of the release of season 1, who didn’t confirm that a season 2 would be on the way but did tease us on some of what we can expect going forward. Specifically, Shankar told us that the “journey doesn’t end on episode six” and also teased more nuance regarding Rayman’s backstory and future character arc, telling us “there is more there.” We also asked him about Sarah and whether there’s any hope for redemption, to which he responded, “I personally don’t believe anybody is beyond redemption.”
In other Captain Laswerhawk news, a new manga-style comic is due to be released in late January 2024. Of course, this isn’t the only show from Adi Shankar coming our way in 2024. His new Devil May Cry anime adaptation series is also due for release later this year.
We did reach out to Netflix for any additional clarification on this but have yet to hear back.
