When publishing my article to Wikipedia’s main space, I reached out to other Wikipedians for help. I recognized my newbie status, as this was my first contribution to Wikipedia, and I respect and appreciate the advice and guidance I received during this process. I actively sought help from the teahouse, the mentor who made themselves available to me on my Userpage, and from users on the talk pages of articles similar to mine. I felt confident that my endeavors would be fruitful, given the collaborative nature of Wikipedia. Upon receiving feedback from these spaces, I felt inclined to show gratitude to these collaborators, given the understanding of the good faith norm. Showing gratitude is one way in which this norm is enacted. I was also prompted, in my article’s history, to “thank” any editors who contributed to my article. This feature functions to create space for gratitude within the community. While the work that members are doing is educational in nature and heavily research based, communities require effort and teamwork, hence, the necessity for gratitude, forging a shared experience with others.

Earlier in the semester, I added a few relevant categories to an article page and was thanked by the article's original poster for my contributions, which gave me a sense of accomplishment and purpose, despite the fact that the edits I made, I considered to be small.
