I write about [[music]] and to a lesser extent the [[visual arts]] and [[Chinese history]]. Although I focus on [[Western classical music]], I find myself writing about [[Arabic music|Arab]], [[Byzantine music|Byzantine]], [[Music of China|Chinese]], [[Persian traditional music|Persia]], and Eastern European musical traditions as well. My favorite composer will always be [[Gustav Mahler]], but I have recently found my self enjoying the work of [[Henri Dutilleux]], [[Unsuk Chin]], [[Alexander Scriabin]], and [[Tōru Takemitsu]]. |
