This early leadership experience contributed significantly to his understanding of health system management and rural healthcare challenges.
He transitioned into academia in 2017 when he joined Debre Berhan University as a lecturer. Over time, he assumed several academic and leadership roles within the Asrat Woldeyes Health Science Campus.
He served as Dean of the School of Public Health from 2023 to 2025, contributing to curriculum development, research supervision, and institutional leadership. In 2025, he was appointed Corporate Director of the Academic and Clinical Service Directorate, where he oversees academic coordination and clinical training services.
