Abera Lambebo Temamo was born on August 21, 1988, in Lenda, a rural village in East Badewacho Woreda of Hadiya Zone, Southern Ethiopia. He is the son of Lambebo Temamo and Lero Biramo, both subsistence farmers, and is the fifth child in his family.He began his primary education at Langano School (now known as Lenda High School) and later attended Shone High School for his secondary education. Growing up in a rural setting, he was exposed to community health and nutritional challenges, which later shaped his academic interests. Abera pursued higher education in public health and nutrition, earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Haramaya University in 2013. He continued at the same institution and obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Nutrition in 2017.He completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Nutrition at Jimma University in 2023. His doctoral research focused on child malnutrition and its determinants in Ethiopia, contributing to ongoing efforts to address undernutrition and improve child health outcomes in the country.

Abera Lambebo Temamo began his professional career in the health sector, serving at Edo Health Center from mid-2014 to 2015. During this period, he worked in primary healthcare delivery and later served as Head of the Health Center. In this role, he was responsible for coordinating health service delivery, managing healthcare staff, and strengthening community-based health services in the local area of Ethiopia. This early leadership experience contributed significantly to his understanding of health system management and rural healthcare challenges.

He transitioned into academia in 2017 when he joined Debre Berhan University as a lecturer. Over time, he assumed several academic and leadership roles within the Asrat Woldeyes Health Science Campus.

He served as Dean of the School of Public Health from 2023 to 2025, contributing to curriculum development, research supervision, and institutional leadership. In 2025, he was appointed Corporate Director of the Academic and Clinical Service Directorate, where he oversees academic coordination and clinical training services.
