A block was absolutely justified to prevent that from continuing. When I read their talk page, I felt that they were being interrogated a bit heavily, that's why I described it as harsh. I then saw a disconnect between the AN/I discussion and the talk page discussion which had different reasons given for the block. It seems they've learnt that what they did was not acceptable, and they appear to be willing to continue, which is good for editor retention. I consider this a positive outcome.
