The first Travel Bug was released by Jeremy Irish (the co-founder of Groundspeak, the parent company of Geocaching) on 30 August 2001 titled "Deadly Duck: Envy". The Travel Bug was attached to a Rubber duck with devil horns. Irish also released 6 other Travel Bugs all centered around the [[seven deadly sins]], being Sloth, Pride, Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, and Greed (Although the ''Greed'' Travel Bug was placed in a cache that wasn't listed on geocaching.com).{{Cite web |date=2017-03-29 |title=Milestones – Official Blog |url=https://www.geocaching.com/blog/tag/milestones/ |access-date=2026-04-22 |language=en-US}}{{Cite web |date=2016-06-16 |title=Enter the HQ Duck Dash: A Global Trackable Race – Official Blog |url=https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2016/06/enter-the-hq-duck-dash-a-global-trackable-race/ |access-date=2026-04-22 |language=en-US}} |
