According to United States law, there is no official language within the country. While English remains the first language of a large majority of the country, it is not by law official, and this at best may only be described as unofficial. Furthermore, while there is currently an executive order in effect that lists English as the official language, it is again important to note that executive orders are not laws, and thus are only used to instruct how federal departments are to operate. I find that the mention of English as the official language should either be changed to unofficial, with the addition of Spanish and native languages, or should be removed altogether. |
