:It seems the matter is complicated. Grimal's ''Dictionary of Classical Mythology'', s.v. Thelxion, p. 443, says that they are "possibly the same person". In Hans Lamer's discussion of the two in ''[[Pauly encyclopedias|RE]]'', s.v. Thelxion, he writes that the two cannot be combined, and instead one ought to ascertain which tradition is more credible (something he admits can't be done).
