The first sentence of the paragraph beginning "In 1924" is ill-formed, but I was unsure how to change it since I'm uncertain whether the citation refers to one or both of the assertions. If both, then I propose changing to "In 1924, Alexandrov proved that in every open cover of a separable metric space, a locally finite open cover (one of the key concepts in general topology, also first introduced by Alexandrov) can be inscribed." or alternatively splitting into two sentences, with the rather cumbersome repetition of "locally finite open cover". |
