{{Replyto|ApplePieGuy95}} Do you have reliable sources to support its inclusion on this list? I have no opposition to removing politicians who shouldn't be here of course, but I don't see pointing out problems in an article as a reason to include this. :I hate to admit it, but the only metric I was using was that she was murdered. I assumed that any American politicians who were murdered could and should be included on the list, but if there is a rule against non-political murders then I will have to remove it. |
:But when I say that there is a problem with this article, I mean it. Specifically, these two problems: |
:First. Several of these people were killed after getting into fights, meaning that their deaths were not wholly premeditated. Eg. Edwin Stanton McCook, Charles C.P. Arndt, Edward Dexter Holbrook. These are not assassinations, merely acts of manslaughter. |
:Second Some of these people were shot by unknown assailants who had unclear motives, eg. W.H.H. Tyson and Thomas Hindman. If the motive wasn't political, you cannot call it assassination. It would just be murder. Some politicians get killed for non-political reasons. |
:And there are more which you will find if you examine the article. |
:If only political murders are allowed to be here, then a lot of these need to go. Unclear deaths or unplanned deaths in gunfights do not count as assassinations any more than acts of domestic violence.
