In the 2026 season, its 108th in history, Fortaleza Esporte Clube is competing in Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B, to which it was relegated for the first time since 2018, and has advanced to the fifth round of the Copa do Brasil. The club won the Campeonato Cearense, claiming its 47th title in the competition. On 11 December 2025, Thiago Carpini was appointed head coach until the end of the 2026 season, succeeding Martin Palermo after the expiry of the Argentine coach’s contract, which would have been automatically renewed had Fortaleza avoided relegation.
